This original play, based on O’Connor’s writings, captures the life and times of the wildest boy of them all, Michael Collins, as he graduates from masterminding the most dare-devil raids, prison breaks and escapades of the War of Independence to commanding the official army of a newly-formed state. No dull history lesson, The Big Fellow is an imaginative and entertaining piece of non-stop, high-energy theatre starring Gerard Adlum and Cillian O Gairbhi, with an original score by ex-Waterboy Colin Blakey.

VISITOR INFORMATION: Getting There (Very easy by Public Transport, Car or Bike): Situated near the 3 Arena in the heart of Dublin's bustling docklands, the Sean O'Casey is a welcoming, intimate 156-seater theatre just 9 minutes bus ride from O'Connell Bridge. Best advice is to take the 151 from either Bachelors Walk or Eden Quay in the direction Docklands (pick up times 19.00, 19.20 and 19.40 approx - double check by googling the online Dublin Bus 151 real time readout) Disembark at Docklands-Caledon Road, walk back 50 metres veering right beneath the stone wall and take first right turn. For car drivers, there is ample safe parking in the theatre car park out front or around the side. St. Mary's Road is well lit, just off a busy main road and as safe to walk or cycle as any typical city street anywhere. Buses back to O'Connell Bridge run up to midnight - again, we recommend using the Dublin Bus real time app or asking advice from the friendly theatre staff.
