Zoh Amba is a genre-defying force! A songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose sound fuses avant-garde jazz, noise, devotional hymns, and folk-rooted melodies.

Originally from Tennessee and now based in NYC, Zoh has been developing a raw and deeply personal folk project alongside her globally acclaimed saxophone work. Zoh will play two intimate nights at Little Whelan’s on Sunday 21st September & Monday 22nd September where the full spectrum of her compositional power will be on display, across a delicate folk set & the visceral, spiritual energy of an Amba solo saxophone set. Tickets are available individually or as a discounted set for both shows.
Sunday 21st September will be a solo performance with guitar, which will showcase her songs on guitar — intimate, poetic reflections shaped by her love of nature and life’s wild rhythms.
Monday 22nd September will see Amba take to the stage for a solo saxophone set. Her powerfully unique avant-garde music is full of folk melodies, mesmerizing refrains, and repeated incantations.
Amba released two records in 2022, her debut record O, Sun which was produced by John Zorn and released on the prestigious label Tzadik. Zoh Amba’s second record, Bhakti features Micah Thomas, Tyshawn Sorey, and Matt Hollenberg. She has collaborated with a variety of high profile musicians such as Jim White (Dirty Three), legendary bassist William Parker, Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Frank Rosaly, Thomas Morgan, etc
