Date

Mar 06 2021 09:00 - Mar 07 2021 16:00

Description

We will continue to monitor the public health guidance and, if the situation changes then we may have to defer/cancel courses to avoid endangering course participants, staff and the public.

It pays to know your way around, especially when the mist comes down or the weather closes in

Venue: Glendalough, County Wicklow

Mountain Skills 1 is the foundation training to enable you to make your way reliably in open countryside and on our hills. It includes map reading and navigation techniques as well as personal equipment, and some aspects of the upland environment. This course is accredited by the Mountain Training Board of Ireland (the new all Ireland mountain training body) and is usually delivered through two days tuition in an upland environment.

Our team are qualified Mountain Leaders, holding appropriate outdoor first aid certification. Instruction groups are a maximum of 6 participants to each instructor, enabling us to enable maximum learning for each participant. It is highly desirable that participants have had some previous hillwalking experience.

Price for tuition is €120 per participant. An amount of the learning will be delivered through pre-course work, written materials, videos and exercises with a few zoom calls for face-to-face work. For the outdoor work at the weekend, participants must arrange to get to the venue and will need to bring adequate food and water for a day on the hill each day.

You must also register for the Mountain Skills Scheme with Mountaineering Ireland, there is a fee of €22 euro for that and it covers:
– Access to the full Mountain Skills Scheme training and assessment
– A Digital Logbook and booklet setting out the scheme and allowing you to track your progress
– A discounted Mountaineering Ireland membership fee of €30, if you wish to join at the time of registration
We can explain how to do that on mountaineering.ie if you are booking with us.

For more information or to book a place call Milly at 086 2475280 or send me an email at info@exploremore.ie

You can book online by clicking on "Book a Place" above.

We can organise a course close to you on other dates if you have a small group interested. We also provide MS2 courses on request.

FAQ

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

  • I wish to cancel my ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

  • I have registered on the waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.

  • What is refund protection and why would I need it?

Refund Protection provides you with the assurance that if unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances interfere with your ability to attend an event you can claim a refund. For more information on this, read here.
